Bio: Roger Sanderson, Director of Horticulture at Texas Discovery Garden, has been dedicated to educating the world about native plants, birds, butterflies, snakes and all things creepy, crawly since childhood. Roger graduated from UT Austin with a major in Zoology with a minor in Botany; he then completed graduate work at Texas A&M in Horticulture. Roger was the Director of Botany and Wildlife Biologist at the Heard Museum for 11 years prior to joining TDC. He is a past president of the Herpetological Society, is currently building “the best native butterfly garden in Texas”, is a board member of the Prairie & Timbers Audubon Society and, recently, became a life-time member of NTMN in honor of his service to all master naturalists and our communities.

Walk: Bugs. Birds and the Prairie Plants They Love—-

Join Roger Sanderson for an early morning stroll around Harry Moss Park observing life on the small prairie—birds, bugs and native plants. We will identify visitors and inhabitants and their roles that make them key components of the living prairie.

Meet at Harry Moss Park at 8 AM on Arborside (east side of the Park) near the Harry Moss Park signage and trek on at 8:15. Bring binoculars if you desire and wear good walking shoes.
