Let’s not allow NTMN’s fine work made during a Big Chapter Project to slip away!

Sunday, May 22 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Pizza provided

Where: Greenville Ave at Royal, park on Arborside
Google Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/dir//8000+Greenville+Ave,+Dallas,+TX+75231/@32.889534,-96.7588394,15z/data=!4m8!4m7!1m0!1m5!1m1!1s0x864e9ffef32fd50b:0x1ce3aea4c2413e43!2m2!1d-96.7533355!2d32.8933899

Dallas Parks & Recreation is seeking volunteers to cut saplings invading the prairie. A donor purchased a tractor-mower especially for prairie projects so that invasive seeds aren’t accidentally spread, and it’s been used to catch up on maintenance of the main Moss prairie.

But there is a low area where the tractor can’t reach with lots of small woody saplings that must be cut down by hand. Texas Conservation Alliance is sending volunteers. Garrett Boone, who is promoting the project, says more are needed.

All the tools furnished by the parks department, bring your favorite if you wish. Just show up and cut. Wear: gloves, hat sturdy shoes and long pants. Outfit yourself with bug and sun protection. Bring lots of water.

Contact Virginia Quinones vebquinones@gmail.com with intent to attend.

Accepted for VH–file under Dallas Parks and Open Space

Ybarra’s new practice of birdwatching precipitates a question. Whereas in her scholarship and teaching she argues that Mexican Americans do not identify with conventional environmentalism or the idea of wilderness, how can she understand her new practice of paying attention to birds? In other words, what......
