Jamie Gudmestad, National Weather Service meteorologist, will cover an often-discussed topic, the weather. Jamie will tell us how the National Weather Service has evolved and how the NWS works with local partners to educate and alert the public about adverse weather conditions.

Speaker Bio:

Jamie Gudmestad is a meteorologist with National Weather Service in Fort Worth.  She earned a bachelor of  science in geosciences from Mississippi State University and an MBA from Texas A & M Commerce. She had 11 years experience in weather forecasting with Air Force before joining National Weather Service in 2007. Although Jamie had gravitated toward math and science in school, her interest in weather occurred when a thunderstorm came up over the mountains as she was driving home to see her family. Stuck on the interstate amid this powerful weather storm, she realized that she wanted to understand this kind of power.
