Chainsaw Safety and Use Training at Dogwood Canyon
This Chainsaw Safety and Use for Trail Maintenance class is hands-on training. Participants will learn the basics of chainsaw safety and use in trail maintenance, including secure handling, proper gear, routine maintenance, fueling, and basic cutting techniques. There will be instructor demonstrations and supervised, one-on-one, hands-on operations by participants under real-trail conditions.
Participant requirements: At least 21 YOA, physically capable of hiking 1 mile carrying 5-15 lbs. of equipment
Clothing requirements: Durable boots (no canvas shoes), long pants, long sleeve shirt, leather work gloves, ability to wear safety glasses for eye protection, cap (helmet will be provided, or bring your own construction helmet)
Other requirements (to bring): Ear protection (soft plugs will be provided, or bring your own), 1 liter water, 1 light day pack or back pack for holding gear, pad and pen, light snack as desired
