Guided Prairie Walk at Leo Ranch
Saturday, September 21, 2019 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Spend an afternoon exploring the Leo Ranch, a Dixon Water Foundation property. The ranch encompasses several hundred acres of native tallgrass prairie. Botanical experts Bill Carr and Lisa Bellows will lead the tour. The bottomlands were previously farmed and provide an excellent demonstration site for the restoration of farmland to prairie. This event is sponsored by the Native Prairies Association of Texas (NPAT).
Leo Ranch is in Cooke County, about a half hour northeast of Decatur. Bring bug repellent, sunscreen and drinking water. Long pants and sturdy boots are recommended. See NPAT website below for details, directions, and tickets.
Cost: $45, includes prairie tour and catered dinner (The event producer, Kirsti Harms, has confirmed that those who come for only the walk will not have to pay.)
