Shark Tooth Field Trip to Sherman Creeks
Saturday, July 14, 2018   8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

This field trip will go to the creeks around the Sherman/Denison area, where the largest Cretaceous shark teeth in Texas have been found. Go to the Dallas Paleo website below for details about the geology of the area, instructions relating to collecting, and sign-up information.

Meet at the Jack-in-the-Box at US 75 and FM 1417 (just south of Sherman) and be ready to depart for the creeks promptly at 8:30 AM. Be aware that there are multiple hazards on these urban creeks, including snakes, fire ants, glass and metal construction materials.

After lunch at nearby Dickies BBQ, we’ve been invited to tour the most extensive local shark tooth collection/display in this part of Texas. It was mainly collected before the creeks became so popular and when you could collect many nice teeth on an outing.

Meeting Location: Jack-in-the-Box, 100 W. FM 1417, Sherman, TX 75092
