Texas Buckeye Trail Guided Hike
Saturday, March 28, 2020   10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Location: Buckeye Trail, 7000 Bexar Street, Dallas, TX 75215

Join Master Naturalists Bill Holston and Ben Sandifer for a guided 1.25-mile roundtrip hike on the Ned and Genie Fritz Texas Buckeye Trail in Dallas’ beautiful Great Trinity Forest. The Texas Buckeye Aesculus glabra var. arguta should be near full bloom for the walk. We will discuss the Great Trinity Forest and its history; identify common trees, understory plants and flowers; and discuss the importance of flooding to the health of the forest.

Wear suitable shoes and attire as the trail can be muddy if it has rained. There can be poison ivy, copperhead snakes and downed limbs, all the typical hazards of our great urban bottomland hardwood forest. Scheduled hike dependent upon weather conditions. No pets, please. Free and open to the public.

Meet at the covered trailhead picnic shelter in the cul de sac of Bexar Street:
