Big Chapter Project, Fall 2021

by Danielle LoPresti, Class of 2018

After a long separation, we were finally able to come back together as a chapter to volunteer at Twelve Hills Nature Center for the Fall Big Chapter Project on November 6th, 2021. The morning was a brisk one with beautifully clear skies that made the workday absolutely perfect.

Thanks to a generous donation by the Texas Conservation Alliance, we planted over 400 plants throughout the center.

With 30 Master Naturalists and some student volunteers, we knocked the planting out in no time and moved on to tackling the invasives, while a few of us went foraging for seeds to collect and distribute in the back meadow.

Once the work was done, we all came together for a quick bite and a walking Advanced Training presentation by Marcie Haley and Annemarie Bristow.

After being apart for more than a year, the camaraderie and service were a breath of fresh air for these Master Naturalists and the day was a success for Twelve Hills.
