Biodiversity Education Center at Coppell Nature Park

The Biodiversity Education Center is a facility of the City of Coppell Parks and Recreation department that offers nature-based education and sustainability programs to the community. A variety of programs provides learning opportunities for all ages. These include family-friendly drop-in hours, hands-on and self-guided activities, guided hikes, school field trips, and special presentations. The 1,500 square foot indoor education hall is utilized for scheduled programs and is available as meeting space for local chapters of non-profit organizations. The adjacent Coppell Nature Park is a 66-acre natural area with 5 miles of trail and two outdoor classrooms which are utilized for outdoor education programs. For more information about Coppell Nature Park, visit the Coppell Nature Park project description.

Throughout the course of each year BEC depends on approximately 1,500 hours of adult volunteer service. Most of these opportunities require interaction with the public and are education oriented. Follow the volunteer link on the BEC website: http://www.coppelltx.gov/bec to view descriptions, dates and vacancies, or contact any BEC staff for more information. The Friends of Coppell Nature Park hosts a community service day every third Saturday of the month from 9am-12pm. Activities usually include mulching and trimming branches from trails.
