Canyon Creek Marsh and Wildscape

This site is located behind the Hilton Garden Inn at 1001 George Bush Frwy, Richardson, Texas.

The site is approximately 8-10 acres of creek, retention pond and a North Texas Water District dam and grass lands.  It currently supports many species of native trees in the riparian areas as well as some silver bearded blues stem, side oats gramma, buffalo grass and several native wildflowers, milk week, an active beaver population, bob cat, Texas river otter, and much more.

The site is considered Black Land Prairie and prior to 1970 was partially farmed for cotton.

The primary goal is to dramatically reduce the scabiosa and replace it will native short grasses, native pollinator plants and native Burr oak and pecan trees in the riparian areas.

There is one paved trail that surrounds the retention pond and goes under the bridge at Renner Road where a railroad trestle crosses the creek.  This is also the site of new construction of an additional Dart rail line that will stop at nearby UTD and go on to DFW.
