Learn More about Our New Class Representative, Aaryaman Singhal

By Dorothy Buechel, Dragonflyer Editor

Name: Aaryaman Singhal

Hometown: Athens, OH

NTMN Class: Spring 2019

NTMN Position(s): New Member Class Representative

Fun fact about you: I run marathons and played on a nationally competitive ultimate frisbee team

How did you hear about the program? I work at Groundwork Dallas helping restore green spaces in Dallas and getting youth excited about the environment. At that organization, one of the members of the board (*cough* Rose Mercer *cough*) is always encouraging people to join. I did as soon as I could!

What made you want to become a member? I really wanted to learn more about local environmental challenges and projects to help address those challenges. I aspire to be action-oriented.

Which projects would you like to get involved in once you’ve finished your training? I’m not 100% sure yet – which is why I’m excited to be the New Class Representative. It’s a great chance to learn more about different aspects of what NTMN does because there is so much. In general, I think I’ll be drawn to restoration work because it’s action oriented.

In your opinion, what is the biggest impact NTMN and the TMN program provide the community? It’s hard to say as a new member, but I think NTMN/TMN provide a constructive way for like-minded people to provide education, outreach, and service to benefit our environment. See how I incorporated the mission statement there?

Do you have any favorite quotes? I’m sure that I’m getting these three quotes wrong, but they go something like this.
1. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
2. You must be the change you seek in the world.
3. Don’t doubt that a small group of citizens can change the world because indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
