Schools and Community Habitats

Education, outreach and service to schools, community or public properties and community organizations by assisting them in planning, establishing and/or maintaining wildscapes, gardens, native prairies, and outdoor learning centers. Schools/Community Habitats is designed for small-scale projects or beginning efforts. All new venues must be pre-approved. Send new venue information to activities@ntmn.org for review prior to initiating activities. Separate project proposals will need to be written for venues which become very extensive with wide-ranging activities.

Volunteers teach school students, teachers, parents, and community groups the importance of restoring natural areas, establishment of habitat for pollinators and native species, and best practices in the management of natural resources. Volunteers help groups plan their project, advise them on sources of materials as needed, teach them how to construct and install the bird houses, gardens, etc., and provide assistance in maintenance of the property.
