Howdy friends of the prairie,

We hope that you are all doing well and enjoying the spring.

We have an opportunity to be a part of the worldwide effort to document urban flora & fauna the weekend of April 28th and we would love your help!

The Bison Hill Prairie has over 1100 iNaturalist observations and we have discovered 249 species of flora and fauna on this property. This important work helps to document the biodiversity of a healthy prairie in an urban environment. Our efforts help scientists understand the complexity and uniqueness of this particular prairie around White Rock Lake.

Our local sponsors are the Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Master Naturalists, the Nature Conservancy, the Audubon Society.

If you’ve never done this, it is a really fun time. You will need to download the iNaturalist app to your phone and create a login. Here’s a link to do that.

Hopefully, we will find a few new species and continue to document all of the wonderful things that call this prairie home. Plus it’s just fun to wander the prairie to see what is happening at this time of year.

We would love to have you be a part of this event so bring your phones, wear long pants and sturdy shoes and come explore the Prairie with us.All ages are welcome & feel free to invite your friends.

We will meet on Saturday, 4/29 at 9 o’clock and go until 11.

The location is on East Lawther just north of the Mockingbird bridge and west of Buckner.

Thanks so much for your help in keeping this jewel of White Rock Lake an important part of our Dallas history.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Take care,
